Unbelievably, this 1980's master bathroom started out with a corner
shower and 2 white vanities as shown in left picture ... We gutted the
entire bathroom and created a double walk-in shower with fixed frameless
glass, and a black river pebble base and wall accents. The shower walls
are Travertine tile, as well as the new tub plinth and bathroom floor.
Note the two fabulous bodyshower systems !! (I
promise you this is the same camera angle before and after !! )

Here is the same camera angle showing before and after ..... the tub was
removed, along with the built-ins and vanity. We also closed off the far
closet door (it has another door this end) and were able to install 9
feet of solid wood vanities with 'Expresso' finish. We added a solid
granite slab for the top (St. Cecilia) and two elegant Kohler porcelain
sinks with oil rubbed bronze faucets. Note the additional storage
cabinets on the far end for linens. |
 |
This project was very interesting as we used computerized 3D imaging to
give the clients an idea of the finished product before we even
started demolition ! Of course, a few things changed, but on the whole
it turned out pretty close I think you'll agree. |

Here's a full view of the new tub .... we initially built a frame for
the plinth, and ran new copper hot / cold feeds. The tub is 68" x 44"
oval with jets and an inline heater to keep the water warm! The
backsplash comprises 18x18 travertine tile (Tuscan Walnut) cut into 9x9
quarters and laid diagonally, with a small 'pencil stone' edge to finish
off. The plinth top comprises 2x2 ceramic mosaics to match. The plinth
sides are, again, travertine with a 'Noce' stone chair rail for a soft
edge. Note the gorgeous oil rubbed bronze faucet with separate flexible
handshower! Aaaaahhhh :) |

|
Here's a very cool view taken from INSIDE the shower (the water was off
....) Note the reflection of the glass blocks in the exterior wall,
which replaced a small window. The closet door is on the right. The wall
finish is a light trowel finish texture with custom gray color. |
 |
|
This is looking into the new shower - there is a 28" open walk-in on the
left designed so the water does not splash out of the enclosure. The
glass block window gives plenty of light, but the skylight adds lots
more. Note the angled cut on the top of the glass which is a nice design
touch. |

Finally, we also upgraded the guest bathroom by repainting the vanity,
adding a granite top and porcelain vessel sinks, orb hardware,
travertine tile on the tub walls and floor, and new mirrors. A very
elegant showpiece for your guests! |
